Greek retail sales volume fell 0.8 pct in September as sales declined in the majority of store categories, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that sales fell 3.4 pct in food/beverage/tobacco, 2.5 pct in fuel/lubricants, 1.4 pct in pharmaceuticals/cosmetics, 0.5 pct in bookstores and 0.2 pct in department stores. On the other hand, sales grew 1.0 pct in clothing/footwear, 0.8 pct in home appliances and 0.6 pct in supermarkets in September.
The retail sales volume index (turnover in fixed prices) fell 0.8 pct in September from September 2016
and dropped 6.0 pct from August. The seasonally-adjusted index eased 0.1 pct in September from August 2017.
The retail sales turnover index (turnover in current prices) fell 0.7 pct in September from September 2016 and by 1.9 pct compared with August 2017. The seasonally-adjusted index fell 0.1 pct in September from August.
